Part-Time Farm Care Assistant

Job Specifications:

As a Part-Time Farm Care Assistant, you will get experience working for a Non-Profit Animal Sanctuary covering 7 different species, gaining valuable skills in the areas of animal health and behavior. This position is part-time, estimated work time 10-15 hrs/week, and we offer flexible scheduling to work around other priorities. All work is performed onsite so reliable commute/transportation to the sanctuary is required.  This position is designed as a Contract position, and will require a W9 be submitted once the position is accepted, and a 1099 will be issued to the contractor at the end of the year. All employees/contractors/volunteers must be prepared to work in all weather conditions and plan to dress appropriately. Closed toe shoes/boots are required.  Any applicant should have a general interest in animal care or farm work, have the ability to lift 50 lbs and do general physical work, have the ability to work independently and as part of a team and be flexible to a multitude of tasks.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Cleaning water tanks and refilling

• Stock hay and pine shavings in the barns.

• Brushing/Grooming animals

• Mucking barns and pastures as needed

• Stock medical supplies

• Assist with animal care during vet and farrier procedures.

• Maintaining feed & supplement schedules for animals

• Organizing barn rooms/sheds

• Clean out goat/sheep stalls & restock with shavings

• Assist with minor fence repairs/filling in holes around perimeter of pastures.

• Minor tree work (pruning & protecting from goats)

• Other typical farm duties
